SIGV Achieves Full Green Status

Sussex Inlet Golf Village has recently achieved full ‘six leaf’ status under the EnviroDevelopment assessment scheme.

The commitment to sustainability is seen throughout other Sheargold communities, with its award-winning Vista Park in the Illawarra being one of the first projects in NSW to achieve this accolade some 5 years ago, and Parry’s Cove in Tea Gardens also recently achieving this green status.

The EnviroDevelopment system has been designed to challenge the status quo and drive towards a future of better design, less impact & emissions, and a better quality of life for its residents. It analyses everything from pedestrian connectivity of the community right through to materials used in each home. Even the kitchen sink!

The EnviroDevelopment criteria is assessed on six ‘leaves’ being; Ecosystems, Waste, Energy, Materials, Water and Community. Each with their own range of commitments to delivering a more sensitive and sustainable community. With construction for the first phase nearing completion, these criteria span from the urban design and early planning right through to the last dwelling being built in many years’ time.

It not only places accountability on the developers but also builders and home designers and occupants, feeding into the Design Guidelines. Alongside architectural consultation to inspire modern coastal designs, EnviroDevelopment serves as a backbone to the Design Guidelines for Sussex Inlet Golf Village – a framework for homeowners and builders to achieve above average water and energy ratings, encouraging the use of materials with high recycled content and consider lower impact building materials.

Delivering Sussex Inlet Golf Village is a partnership between Lucas Property Group and Sheargold. “The quality development of Sussex Inlet has always been a long term goal, the ‘six leaf’ status of the Sussex Inlet Golf Village is believed to be the first in the Shoalhaven region, this will certainly ensure future residents will enjoy a great lifestyle environment” Said Ralph Lucas, Managing Director of Lucas Property Group on achieving this milestone.

Managing Director of Sheargold, Michael Sheargold said “We are delighted to add Sussex Inlet Golf Village to our growing group of EnviroDevelopment Certified Communities. Choosing to commit to such a program doesn’t come without its challenges but we are committed to a sustainable future and we certainly envisage that our residents will appreciate the features implemented to achieve the certification”.
